IT’S JON & DUSTED

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

JONNY EVANS claimed his August transfer saga is behind him after making his first West Brom appearance of the season.

The Northern Ireland defender was out with a hamstring strain as Manchester City and Leicester competed for his services. The Baggies turned down all bids and now Hawthorns boss Tony Pulis wants to give him a new deal.

Evans (above) said of all the speculation: “It doesn’t even feel like it happened now. It is behind me now.”

West Brom gave debuts to Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kieran Gibbs and Evans said the new-look side needs time to adapt. “With new players coming in, it will take time to get them to understand how the gaffer wants to play and how he wants to set up,” he said.

“It will be interesting to see how that pans out.”
