16 years on, Trump salutes victims of 9/11
DONALD Trump and wife Melania stand with their hands over their hearts as they honour the victims of 9/11 yesterday.
The President and First Lady joined a ceremony at the White House marking the 16th anniversary of the terror atrocity.
It came as it emerged that Buckingham Palace staff were still making plans for a controversial state visit by Mr Trump less than a week ago – and a date of October 24 had been set for dinner at the palace.
Sources said staff were told by email last week the event had been shelved.
Prime Minister Theresa May was blasted when she invited Mr Trump during her visit to the US in January, when they were pictured holding hands. In August, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson ruled out a visit before the end of the year – and officials yesterday confirmed there are currently no arrangements.
One said: “There have been sighs of relief in some quarters that he has yet to appear on Her Majesty’s schedule.”
