Face security for new £1k Apple iPhone

- BY RUKI SAYID

APPLE’S new £1,000 iPhone X will have face ID as a security feature, a leak has revealed.

It will keep the firm ahead of rivals who are still developing fingerprint ID to unlock handsets.

An “animoji” feature will allow emojis to take on the owner’s expressions such as smiles and frowns.

Two cheaper models – the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus at £600-£700 – are expected to be introduced by Apple boss Tim Cook tonight.

Handsets will be in the shops on September 22, with much riding on the launch after a muted response to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus last year.

Ernest Doku, mobile phone expert at uSwitch. com said: “Apple still faces an uphill struggle to win hearts and minds.”
