Cruel injustice
DENYING compensation to a woman who was a victim of the Rotherham paedophile gang is cruel and legally outrageous.
No teenager below the age of consent could be considered to have legally agreed to have sex with an adult. The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority erred badly before reversing an awful decision on Sammy Woodhouse.
Insult should never have been added to her injuries. The Authority’s review of compensation guidelines must ensure this never happens again, treating with respect and sympathy survivors of the most appalling abuse.
