Using a tumble dryer

Tumble dryer fires are Britain’s second biggest cause of house fires. Fire brigades across the country were called to 926 tumble dryer fires between 2011 and 2013.

The danger is caused by a build up of fluff on the dryer’s filter which can cause the machine to burst into flames.

Frequent cleaning of the filter and never leaving a tumble dryer on in your absence, or during the night, can help ensure your tumble dryer is safe.
