May’s pay dunce cap

ONLY a Prime Minister as tin-eared as this incompetent Tory lame duck could boast of this “lifting of the pay cap”.

Theresa May is even more out of touch than we thought if she expects workers to be grateful. Prison officers are offered 1.7% and the police 2%, but just 1% of that is permanent.

Those rises are effectively pay cuts as the rate of RPI inflation is 3.9%.

After two years of pay freezes then just 1% every year since, it seems obvious to everybody except this Tory PM that nurses, teachers and the rest deserved a decent award.

Not only that but most hardworking public servants are the continuing victims of even greater May miserliness.

Being so tight-fisted is a foolish ideological choice which these Tory chancers will come to regret. They are slashing living standards and ruin services in what is the slowest growing major industrial economy.

May is so useless that she is turning everybody against her.
