Jim Moir, aka Vic Reeves, reckoned he had missed out on his chance for a role in Coronation Street.

He joins as dodgy newsagent Colin Callen this month but feared it was all off when the last Corrie boss quit. Jim says: “I was asked to do it by Stuart Blackburn and said ‘Yeah’. Then Kate Oates took over.

“One night I got a sticker on my dressing room door at Hammersmith Odeon saying would I like to be in Corrie and to give her a ring.”
