Falling boulder killed climber

-

A CLIMBER was killed in the French Alps when he grabbed a loose boulder that struck him on the head, an inquest heard.

Former Royal Marine Duncan Potts, 28, was at around 12,000ft and making his way down the Dent du Geant mountain in the Mont Blanc range near Chamonix with a friend, who alerted rescuers.

But the “hugely qualified mountain leader” from Coldridge, Devon, died at the scene from a “catastrophic” injury, the Exeter inquest heard. Verdict: Accident.
