Brits top list for business

Firms rarely choose foreign workers over Brits, a survey has claimed.

Research by the British Chambers of Commerce and Middlesex University London found only 8% of 1,400 companies questioned said they target overseas recruits.

That’s despite the fact that 40% of UK businesses have employees from other EU countries and 23% from elsewhere in the world.

Jane Gratton from the BCC said: “While companies rarely target workers from outside the UK, the internet allows people from all over the world to see and apply for opportunities here.”

With Brexit looming, nearly half the firms questioned said they had faced skills shortages or had struggled to get staff in the past year.
