JARDINE’SGOT NAK FOR CUP

-

IAIN JARDINE has given Ebor hero Nakeeta the Melbourne Cup go-ahead after the weights were revealed yesterday.

The Dumfries trainer had been undecided about sending his stable star to Australia, but will now make the trip having been alloted a handy weight of 8st 5lb.

“He’s got the same mark as Heartbreak City (last year’s Ebor winner who finished a close second in Melbourne),“said Jardine (above).

“It’s not every year you get the chance to run in a Melbourne Cup.”

Aidan O’Brien’s Order Of St George, impressive winner of Sunday’s Irish St Leger, has again been handed top weight and will have to carry 9st 2lb at Flemington on November 7.

THE BHA has announced that all races at next year’s Cheltenham Festival will declare at the 48-hour stage.

Previously, only non-novice Grade 1s declared two days in advance.
