Stamps show iconic world of Ladybirds
A NEW set of stamps features vintage images from the popular Ladybird books that entertained generations of children.
Front covers from Piggly Plays Truant, Tootles The Taxi, Things We Make and Tricks And Magic are among those in the nostalgic series of eight.
The 1950s to 1970s were seen as the golden age of the books. There were more than 650 of them, all with the ladybird logo.
Publishing began in the early days of the Second World War, their handy size reflecting the paper shortages of the time.
The Royal Mail said the stamps “celebrate the iconic series that generations have loved”.
Ladybird still puts out retro-style humorous versions for adults.
