ITV2, 9pm In this latest reality show concoction, eight lads are transported back to the Roman Empire to see if they can cut it as gladiators.
It’s a bit like TOWIE crossed with The Hunger Games as the men have to fight and live like Romans did – all the while trying to look gorgeous in sandals, leather loincloths and gold pants.
It’s also proof that fame-seekers really will do absolutely anything to be on TV.
As they arrive in the mock Roman city, one says: “I’ve gone 2,000 years back. I’ve never lived that far back, I’ve only seen lampposts and pavements.” No, we don’t have a clue what he’s on about either.
Of course there’s gratuitous nudity and plenty of testosterone, while their bikini-clad girlfriends get to help them out – and there’s a big cash prize (£10,000).
As the Emperor’s Games begin, it looks like a costume party that got out of hand. But we all liked Love Island, so you never know, this madness might be a hit.
