Magnificent Kane at the double as Tottenham turn it on at Wembley
HARRY KANE ended 10-man Spurs’ Wembley hurt with a stunning brace to smash Dortmund.
Son Heung-min (left) put Tottenham ahead in the fourth minute with a near-post strike.
Then, Kane (right) struck in the 15th and 60th minutes to rubbish suggestions that the
north Londoners always bottle it at the national stadium. Kane’s double also demonstrated his intention to prove he is up with the best strikers in European football, after lifting the Premier League Golden Boot for the last two seasons.
Dortmund’s Andriy Yarmolenko had responded in style, in the 11th minute, curling an outstanding effort into the top corner.
But the impressive victory came in the absence of Dele Alli, who was suspended after being sent off in the Europa League last season.
And a victorious night was soured somewhat in injury-time when Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi sent off Jan Vertonghen for a second bookable offence, a hand in the face of Mario Gotze.
Tottenham are now sitting second in Group H, behind Real Madrid.
