Radiohead song gets makeover for Blue Planet II

-

Radiohead and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer have collaborated on a song to feature in a five-minute prequel video for BBC1’s Blue Planet II.

It is an orchestral reworking of Radiohead song Bloom, which was on their 2011 album The King Of Limbs, and Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, below, re-recorded the vocals alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Zimmer created the music for the series, narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

Yorke said: “Bloom was inspired by the Blue Planet series so it’s great to be able to come full circle with the song. It was liberating to work with [Hans] and see how he wove the sound of the series and Bloom together.”

Zimmer said: “Working with Thom and the boys has given me an interesting peek into their world.”
