Is the Government offer to prison officers and police a pay rise or a pay cut?

CPI inflation figures show a rise of 2.9% in prices. The Government is offering 2% to police officers, and 1.7% to prison officers, each starting in September 2017.

So, the TUC is perfectly right to say it’s a pay cut in real terms.
