IT’S KRUL TO BE KIND FOR RYAN

BRIGHTON goalkeeper Maty Ryan says battling with fellow new signing Tim Krul for the No.1 jersey is spurring him to greater heights.

Aussie international Ryan (above), a £5million summer signing from Valencia, faces a fight to keep his place following Dutchman’s Krul’s switch from Newcastle on transferdeadline day.

Ryan, set to start at Bournemouth in tonight’s Premier League showdown, said: “When I arrived here they wanted to get another goalkeeper — that was the clear message to me.

“Tim has plenty of experience playing for Newcastle in the Premier League. We have a great relationship and push each other to become the best we can be.

“I am enjoying the healthy competition. Hopefully that can only be a positive for the club.”
