SANCHEZ: IT’S CITY FOR REAL

- BY JOHN CROSS

ALEXIS SANCHEZ will snub Real Madrid to join Manchester City.

The Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez is believed to have the Arsenal forward on his list of transfer targets.

But Sanchez (above) is desperate to move to the Etihad either in January or next summer when his Gunners contract runs out.

Arsenal want to keep him and say negotiations are ongoing, but the 28-year-old has snubbed the new deal being offered.

City are super confident of getting their man after failing to land him with a £60million bid towards the end of the transfer window.

And despite the lure of the Bernabeu, Sanchez has given strong indications he will move to City – most likely next summer – and join up again with Pep Guardiola, who he played under at Barcelona.

That means Arsenal will miss out on millions after deciding not to cash in by selling him, but believe he could help them back into the Champions League places.

Real want to strengthen their forward line after selling Alvaro Morata, which has left them short of options. There is continued doubt over Gareth Bale’s long-term future at the club and Sanchez could be seen as an alternative.

Real have also looked at Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (above, left) and Robert Lewandowski (above, right) of Bayern Munich.

But Sanchez is an attractive option if he leaves in January in a cut-price deal or goes for free next summer.
