Throat-grab lout gets 3yr football ban
A FOOTBALL fan has been banned from matches for three years after drunkenly throttling a Premier League star on the pitch.
Jordan Woods, 30, grabbed Burnley’s Ashley Westwood by the throat as his home side Blackburn Rovers headed to defeat.
As a steward helped restrain him, the marketing boss lashed out, Blackburn magistrates court heard.
Woods, of Blackburn, Lancs, admitted assaulting both men and trespassing on the Ewood Park pitch.
He also got a fourmonth suspended sentence. Judge David Purcell said: “The potential was there for major disruption.”
Damien Pickup, defending, said Woods “drank far more than usual” as the match was on his birthday.
