Throat-grab lout gets 3yr foot­ball ban

A FOOT­BALL fan has been banned from matches for three years af­ter drunk­enly throt­tling a Premier League star on the pitch.

Jordan Woods, 30, grabbed Burn­ley’s Ash­ley Westwood by the throat as his home side Black­burn Rovers headed to de­feat.

As a stew­ard helped re­strain him, the mar­ket­ing boss lashed out, Black­burn mag­is­trates court heard.

Woods, of Black­burn, Lancs, ad­mit­ted as­sault­ing both men and tres­pass­ing on the Ewood Park pitch.

He also got a four­month sus­pended sen­tence. Judge David Pur­cell said: “The po­ten­tial was there for ma­jor dis­rup­tion.”

Damien Pickup, de­fend­ing, said Woods “drank far more than usual” as the match was on his birth­day.
