Hakam to fit bill in Portland
WE’VE an early start today as the William Hill Portland kicks off the Doncaster card at 1.50.
Run over just short of six furlongs, this longestablished event is heavy on trends — the most important to find the winner being:
Weight of 8st 12lb or more. Won over six furlongs. Officially rated between 95 and 101. Double-figure stall. Did not win last time. At least four career victories.
We are now down to a shortlist of five — Pipers Note, Stake Acclaim, Lexington Abbey, Hakam and A Momentofmadness.
Raw early pace should be pretty evenly spread across the draw, but they are likely to come up the middle of the track so I wouldn’t rule anything out on that angle. Pipers Note and A
Momentofmadness are likely to be fighting for the lead, which could count against them, while Stake Acclaim has gone up by 15lb this year so faces a stiff task as does HAKAM.
However, he’s been trained for this contest and the trip looks ideal, so have 2pts ew at 25-1 with bet365. LEXINGTON ABBEY did well from a poor draw last year and could have better luck this time with superstar Ryan Moore doing the steering.
Have 2pts win at 12-1 with Ladbrokes or Coral.
