Act now to stop terror
THANKFULLY, we avoided mass slaughter on a London Tube yesterday, because a homemade bomb did not fully detonate.
But it is a stark warning that terrorism is a serious threat, coming after the Manchester carnage and previous attacks in our capital.
As we sympathise with the injured and shudder at the thought it could have been much worse, we must intensify the search for answers.
And we must stop diseased minds wanting to maim and kill in the first place, catch and punish those who do and, when their aim is to terrify, remain calm and go about our daily lives as best we can.
Donald Trump should also butt out. His hasty reaction from the US yesterday is as wrong as his slow response to terrorism on his home turf, in Charlottesville.
And Tories who praised emergency workers yesterday should wake up to their hypocrisy, as they are the same politicians who cut jobs and their wages. CCTV will offer many clues so it’s now the terrorists who should be scared.
