Road safety champion’s drive ban
A TRUCKER who called for stiffer sentences for dangerous motorists admitted driving his car at up to 75mph in a 30mph zone while over the drink-drive limit.
James Meadowcroft, 28, led police on a chase, taking four blind junctions “at speed” before crashing into a traffic light.
He was arrested at the scene and found to be 1.5 times the legal limit.
Meadowcroft, of Radcliffe, Manchester, admitted dangerous driving and drink driving and got six months’ jail suspended for 15 months, and a one-year ban.
In 2015, after Addil Haroon, 19, was jailed for six years for causing death by dangerous driving, Meadowcroft joined a campaign calling for a tougher sentence.
On Facebook, he wrote: “Make an example of him and stop making the CPS and justice system the laughing stock.”
