Purplebricks on yellow brick road?

Online estate agent Purplebricks picked Hollywood to launch its US expansion yesterday.

The Solihull-based business is starting in Los Angeles with a local website and 30 agents.

Purplebricks, which lost £6.1million last year, is taking on traditional estate agents by charging a flat fee of £849 (£1,199 in London) regardless of whether the property sells, plus there can be add-ons too.

Brothers Michael and Kenny Bruce, started the business in 2015 and time will tell if the firm’s California push proves a blockbuster or an epic flop.
