PELLE PUMPED UP AT SAINTS

- BY ALEX CROOK

SOUTHAMPTON boss Mauricio Pellegrino is out to ruin Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace homecoming after slamming the Eagles for sacking Frank de Boer.

Pellegrino (left) beat De Boer to the Saints post this summer and has blasted Palace’s decision to axe the Dutchman.

De Boer was sacked after just 77 days in charge, following four

straight defeats. Argentine Pellegrino said: “We have to survive in our job now. It is not an easy job. I don’t know how we can validate the work of one colleague after four games but we have to accept that.

“Crystal Palace have a good group of players but to draw a conclusion you have to wait.

“You cannot analyse them after one month.

“If you go to the gym twice and look in the mirror nothing changes. Maybe after six months you are better.”

Pellegrino takes his Saints side to Selhurst Park today and added: “We know how Hodgson was playing in the past but when you get a new group of players everything changes.

“When I was playing at Liverpool he was at Fulham.

“He is a manager with a long history behind him and a lot of experience.”
