Cull the barbaric badger slaughter

-

To leave a defenceless, wounded badger in a trap to die a slow, agonising death is a horrific way of killing animals, but I don’t expect the people carrying out the cull care much about minimising suffering.

There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that the culling of badgers reduces the spread of bovine TB in cattle. The only way to eliminate disease in both humans and animals is by vaccination.

Badgers are part of our countryside heritage.

Let’s hope that by exposing the cruel reality of culling badgers, as the Mirror has done, it will put a stop to this barbaric practice.

Christine Hanks Woking, Surrey

Barbaric. No words can describe how angry I was when I saw the pictures of that poor badger that was slaughtered. How can anyone think this is right? Trapping an animal and leaving it to bleed

to death is disgusting.

Phillip Rees, London

I have never been a fan of Brian May, but I agree wholeheartedly with what he says about badger culling. No wonder he’s so angry about the treatment of those poor animals. Well done the Mirror for highlighting such an out-dated and revolting practice.

Sheila Manns, Warwick

We are culling badgers for nothing less than blood lust. There is absolutely no reason to kill badgers as they pose no threat to livestock. The culling needs to stop immediately.

We will not make Britain great again until we look after all our life, human and animal. We need to re-find our place as the nation of animal lovers.

Ashley Smith, March, Cambs

There is no argument for this slaughter at all. This killing of badgers is supposed to stop the spread of bovine TB but there’s no firm proof that this happens.

How have the Government been allowed to carry on with this practice without firm evidence?

Like everything else, Theresa May and her cronies carry out mindless policies like this cull with no hard facts to back things up.

Jenny Roberts, Solihull

This cull needs to stop now. How many more badgers have to die before this Government realises it will not stop the spread of any diseases?

Roland Thomas, Kent

I am a keen animal welfare campaigner and I think it is so inhumane to kill the badgers in traps and leave them to die slowly and in pain. They need to be treated with respect.
