HECK’S BIG AMBITION
BARNSLEY boss Paul Heckingbottom wants to manage in the Premier League – and news that the Tykes have been linked with a potentially game-changing takeover could help his chances.
“Moneyball” baseball executive Billy Beane (above), played by Brad Pitt in the Hollywood movie, is said to be joining a consortium, including Chinese businessman Chien Lee and American investor Paul Conway, to acquire the Championship outfit.
The consortium will pay £20million for a 98.5 per cent stake in the club from current owner Patrick Cryne, who is terminally ill.
Heckingbottom, whose players visited Wembley on Sunday afternoon, said: “The only time the lads have spoken about it was when they saw it on Sky the other day.
“But I’ve seen the film Moneyball and I loved it. I’d love to manage in the Premier League. Who wouldn’t?
“Every player wants to play at Wembley and every manager wants to coach there. You would jump at the chance.”
