M-way shut over bomb fears
THE M1 was shut for nine hours following an alert over a suspicious package.
The police bomb squad was called out to deal with the object, found around 7.30am yesterday, which contained a corrosive material.
Motorists played football, frisbee and rugby after both carriageways were shut near Newport Pagnell, Bucks.
Thames Valley Police later said the object had “no explosive element”.
They added: “There’s no evidence to suggest that this is a terrorist-related incident.”
