JUST A SPOILT CHILD
“Boris is Boris,” says Theresa May, with the metaphorical shrug of the shoulders usually seen by feckless parents watching helplessly as their child prowls around the playground beating up other kids.
No, Theresa. Boris is not just Boris. He, like those kids, is a spiteful, selfish little sh** who needs to be brought into line with a short, sharp shock.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t give two figs if the Tories wanted to spend the autumn tearing each other limb from limb. But while they remain entrusted with extricating us from the EU – probably the most complex bit of negotiation in forever – I do care. We all should.
For while they continue chasing their personal careers, rather than the good of the country, then it’s us who’ll lose out.
Mrs May critically injured her authority with her poorly thought-out election. But if she fails to discipline Boris now she’ll just add cowardice to her list of personality weaknesses.
Her foreign secretary needs to feel a bit of iron discipline.
