1m illegal TV boxes in use

MORE than a million TV set-top boxes that stream illegally were sold in the UK in the past two years.

A quarter of the population may view content illicitly says a study by the Intellectual Property Office and City of London police.

But many risk children seeing inappropriate ads, unsafe electronics as well as malware or security issues, the report said.

The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit said: “There are organised criminals behind it.”
