Tragic boy, 4 is hanged by own hoodie
ACCIDENT Little Maison A BOY of four was hanged by his hoodie while off sick from school, an inquest heard yesterday.
Maison Hirstle’s top got caught on a door handle and twisted round his neck as he played with friends.
Dad James had been watching his son from the balcony of their home in Scarborough, North Yorks, but was distracted for a moment when the boy’s older brother arrived.
The 29-year-old told the hearing: “I blame myself every day.” But coroner Michael Oakley said: “This clearly was an extremely tragic accident.”
He recorded a verdict of accidental death.
After the inquest at Scarborough Rugby Club, Maison’s mum Katrina Glendinning, 37, said: “I’m absolutely devastated.”
