GUNNERS STILL STER CRAZY

Wenger plans new January move for City star to ease Sanchez switch to Etihad

- EXCLUSIVE BY JOHN CROSS

ARSENAL are set to make another move for Raheem Sterling in January.

Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the Manchester City forward and an approach for him could yet hold the key to Alexis Sanchez’s future.

Sterling was offered to Arsenal as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Sanchez at the end

of the summer transfer window but a deal could not be agreed.

City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted Sterling is not for sale and claimed Arsenal made the first move in the summer.

Arsenal maintained their No.1 target was Monaco’s Thomas Lemar but they failed with a £90million bid on deadline day.

The Londoners could now make a fresh bid for England winger Sterling as they look for a top-class replacement for Sanchez.

Arsenal are bracing themselves for a new tide of offers in January for the Chile forward, who is a free agent next summer.

If they don’t cash in, they will lose him for free.

Real Madrid have entered the frame for Sanchez, who will also have Chelsea and Manchester United sniffing

City may not make a move in January as they appear confident of getting Sanchez next summer.

Sterling, 22, has been in brilliant goalscoring form for City this season, scoring in all three of his last Premier League games.

The England star, who moved to the Etihad from Liverpool for around £50m in 2015, will have two years left on his contract next summer.
