GILBERT: I’M PINING FOR MY MISSUS!

SNOOKER

- BY ALEX SPINK Rugby Correspondent

DAVID GILBERT knocked out World Open favourite John Higgins – then admitted missing his wife was driving him potty.

The 36-year-old from Tamworth is in Yushan on the last leg of a gruelling three-week road trip in Asia – and is struggling without Abi.

Gilbert (right) scored a first ranking-event win over four-time world champion Higgins with a 5-2 success.

He said: “We have been away for three weeks now and snooker is the last thing on my mind.

“I am just desperate to get home and have my wicked way with my missus. I struggle with the travelling, but I have done OK in China.”

Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen is up next for Gilbert in today’s quarterfinals.
