£67M HE’S COSTA FORTUNE

CHELSEA REBEL GETS HIS MOVE TO MADRID Conte doubles Blues’ money on a player he no longer wanted and now he’s laughing all the way to the bank

- BY JOHN CROSS

CHELSEA last night finally sold Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid in a staggering £67million deal.

That means Chelsea have more than doubled their money on Costa after signing him from Atletico for £32m in 2014.

Costa, 28, won two Premier League titles in three years at Stamford Bridge, during which time he became one of the most controversial figures in the history of the Premier League.

But despite the Spaniard going AWOL and refusing to return,

Chelsea have still managed to

hammer out one of the best pieces of business this summer.

Yesterday, the Blues finally gave the green light for Costa to return to Madrid, where he will now undergo a medical, after agreeing terms on an incredible deal.

Atletico will pay a £60m transfer fee, which will then rise to £67m with add-ons – even though he cannot play until January because of Atletico’s transfer ban.

The Spain striker will train with Madrid but Chelsea will technically hold his registration, until Atletico are in a position to complete the sale.
