Shrinkflation hitting Haribo sweet packs
PACKS of Haribo sweets have shrunk by 11% in weight – but the price has remained the same.
Packs of Starmix, Tangfastics and Giant Strawbs have been reduced from 215g to 190g, while the cost has stayed around £1.
They are among the latest products to be hit by “shrinkflation”.
Maoam JoyStixx have gone from 160g to 140g, down 12.5%, but have gone up in price from 85p to £1 at Asda.
German firm Haribo, which also owns Maoam, blamed the rising cost of raw materials and a poor exchange rate caused by the weak Brexit pound.
A spokesman said: “We have decided our approach needs to reflect the changing environment.”
