Emma believed dead 2wks before tragedy

EMMA’S family were wrongly told she had been murdered two weeks before she actually was.

Joking about the false alarm, she said: “Let’s hope it’s not a premonition.”

James Contos, a US kayaking guide who assisted her in the early part of her Amazon expedition, said he received news on August 28 that she had been killed near Iquitos in Peru. He told Emma’s family but also sent a message to her, which she replied to.

James said: “There had been a mix-up in identifying the body.”

Emma was later shot and stabbed to death by pirates in Brazil last week. She was 89 days into her 4,000-mile trip. PATROL Police on Amazon
