Moura the merrier for Danny

- BY NEIL McLEMAN

DANNY WILLETT shot his best score on the European Tour for over a year with his second-round 65 at the Portugal Masters.

The 2016 Masters champion has suffered a nightmare season with form and injury and has slipped down to world No.63. But the Yorkshireman showed his old form with seven birdies and a single bogey at Vilamoura to sit five shots off the halfway lead held by Marc Warren and Lucas Bjerregaard.

Willett, who has changed his caddie and coach this year after a terrible Ryder Cup, said: “All of a sudden you’re not looking behind you at the cut-line, you’re looking at what the guys are doing in front. I’ve not been there for a while.”

Tiger Woods will continue to take his comeback “slowly” and has given no date for a return to golf.

The American superstar, now world No.1136, has not played since February after undergoing a fourth back operation.

“I’m feeling good, strong and doing really well,” Woods wrote on his website. “My muscle tone is coming back but I’m not in golf shape yet. That’s going to take time.

“I’m going to listen to my doctors and continue to take it slowly.”

Woods, who is an assistant captain at next week’s Presidents Cup, did not directly address his arrest in May when police found him asleep at the wheel of his car. He faces a court hearing on October 25. The former world No.1 added: “The last two years have been challenging and I have gone through a great deal.”
