their bitter fall-out. Costa is set to complete a £67million move to Atletico Madrid, ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League showdown in the Spanish capital on Wednesday.

The Spain striker will join Atletico initially on loan, and is not eligible to play until January, but is expected to be at the game in Madrid.

The manager added: “We won together last season and, for sure, we want to thank him for his effort. But every single player was important.”
