MY old club Birmingham City have done football no favours if they have driven Harry Redknapp into retirement as a manager by ditching him eight games into the season.

Redknapp answered Birmingham’s SOS with three matches to go last April and he saved them from relegation by winning two of them.

To sign 14 players in the transfer window and then send him packing a few weeks into the season makes absolutely no sense.

What a waste of all that experience, all that knowledge, all those contacts. Now Blues are looking for their fourth manager in nine months – that is hardly a recipe for success.

Perhaps they should have just stuck with Gary Rowett last December...
