ATLETICO RECEIVE HAZARD WARNING

- BY MIKE WALTERS

EDEN HAZARD is standing by for a Champions League recall – but Chelsea manager Antonio Conte warned he will only restore the Belgium star if he is “comfortable” with the decision.

With Wednesday night’s tough game against Atletico Madrid in mind, Hazard was on the bench for the 4-0 win at Stoke.

He has made only one start – in the Carabao Cup against Nottingham Forest last week – since breaking his ankle on international duty in June. But Conte hinted he will pitch Hazard (below) into the firing line against Atletico.

He said: “He is improving a lot and is in contention for the game. “After a bad injury, and surgery, you need time. He has shown he is ready to play, but if I make this decision it will be because I am comfortable with it.

“Hazard is very important to us. We must be sure he is ready to play for the whole game.

“I think we are managing him very well.

“I don’t see a problem.”
