JAAP’S SLAM

- BY HECTOR NUNNS

READING boss Jaap Stam insists his side need to smarten up to kick-start their stuttering season.

The Royals are 18th after reaching the play-off final last term.

And the former Manchester United defender reckons teams have developed measures to counter Reading’s possession- based football. Stam (below) said: “Every opposition knows what we can do and how we play. We need to find an answer to that.” Neil Harris is not surprised to discover Millwall winger Aiden O’Brien is on the Republic of Ireland’s radar. The Lions boss said: “Aiden has scored 30 goals in the last two years – and he doesn’t play up front.”
