Glenn to hang on in FA role
UNDER-FIRE Martin Glenn looks set to keep his job after being given a vote of confidence.
His position as Football Association chief executive has come under the spotlight after the Mark Sampson scandal.
But the FA board yesterday backed Glenn despite the fall-out from the Sampson affair which saw him lose his job as manager of the England women’s team.
An FA statement said: “A number of questions were raised around the historic processes which the board has asked the executive to look into further with the appropriate external legal support.
“The board is confident that, consistent with the substantial positive change under the leadership of chairman Greg Clarke and Martin Glenn, the right procedures are in place to prevent a similar issue arising now or in future.”
An 11-strong panel of MPs are set to probe the Sampson affair and a meeting will be held on October 18.
Sampson was sacked after a “safeguarding” case at his previous job at the Bristol academy. He has also faced accusations of racism and bullying.
