Spat over disabled pay
LABOUR’S Work and Pensions chief has shot down a senior colleague who suggested firms could pay disabled people less than the minimum wage.
Frank Field, who chairs the Commons Work and Pensions Committee, had argued a lower wage and higher benefits could improve job prospects.
But Debbie Abrahams said: “It is certainly not, I repeat not, something acceptable to me or to any member of the Shadow Cabinet. And it would not become Labour Party policy.”
