BELGIANS ON BIG BONUS TO BEAT BHOYS

- BY GAVIN BERRY

ANDERLECHT are on a whopping £40,000-a-man bonus to beat Celtic tonight in Brussels.

And stand-in boss Nicolas Frutos insists the Belgians are favourites to come out on top in the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

The Belgian champions have dangled a £500,000 pot as an incentive to win the battle of the sides who both started their Group B campaign with defeats.

Celtic lost 5-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain (Neymar and Dani Alves applaud fans at the end, below), while Anderlecht went down 3-0 away to Bayern Munich.

The Bhoys are expected to scrap it out with the Belgians for third spot, which would see them secure postChristmas European football.

Frutos – who picked out skipper Scott Brown and Patrick Roberts (above) as Celtic’s key men – said: “We are favourites because we are at home. If Celtic were in Glasgow, they would be the favourites. Both teams know they can get points in this game, though.

“They are still physical but have quality players like Patrick Roberts and the captain Scott Brown, who has been there forever.

“They have a good mix of experienced players and have speed up front. We know this game and the one in Glasgow will be key to deciding who finishes third.”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “When you are playing at home, you will see that as an advantage, as we see when we play in front of 60,000.

“But we are also a team that enjoys playing away because the space can open up a little bit more.

“The home team sometimes have to come and show their supporters that they have the intent to win and that works well for us also.

“We can control the ball, be good in possession but we are also a fast team who can counter-attack.”
