Woolly on EU... but big on unity
THE general election has not just energised Jeremy Corbyn, it has transformed him.
The accidental leader has become an accomplished one.
This was a speech of someone comfortable with the mantle of leadership and comfortable in his beliefs. He has no intention of moving the party to the centre as he believes the centre is moving towards his party.
He declared: “We are now the political mainstream.”
Yes, his passage on Brexit was woollier than Boris Johnson’s hair and there were few concrete policies. But the mild-mannered revolutionary has unified his party.
He has grown in stature and started to persuade people that what was once seen as dangerously left wing is now “common sense”.
