THEIR marriage was rockier than the Wetherfield cobbles, yet Jack and Vera Duckworth were part of our lives.

They screamed at each other in the Rovers Return and The Kabin – and fought like cat and dog in their stone-clad terrace.

But the warring Duckworths, played by Liz Dawn and Bill Tarmey, always made it up.

Liz’s death, at 77, has evoked many memories of Britain’s bestloved soap couple, who were parted when Bill died in 2012.
