Wee and WD40 among ‘remedies’ used for back pain

Others put WD40 on their spines or roll on the arm of a sofa.

But experts say millions rely on fake cures and old wives’ tales, with some convinced their aches are worse during a full moon.

In a survey of 2,000 adults by the British Chiropract­ic Associatio­n, half said rest was the best remedy.

Many blamed ageing for their pain when it is more likely not drinking enough water or inactivity, with moderate exercise the best remedy.

The BCA revealed the unusual DIY methods in a bid to debunk myths around the condition.

BCA member Rishi Loatey said: “While some stories about curing back pain may seem amusing, there is a really serious message here.

“If people don’t know what causes back pain or how to treat it they may aggravate the problem.”

Eight in 10 Brits will suffer some kind of back pain in their lifetime.
