WHITE HOT Simon at a volcano BBC2, 9pm

SIMON Reeve is standing on top of a snow-capped mountain next to an erupting volcano. This is how all the best travel documentaries start.

ITV, 9pm We’ve learned a few things while watching this complicated crime drama – the main one being that there’s no such thing as a safe house.

In this case, the villain – the Crow – seems to know exactly where the safe house is (near a creepy beach, obviously), so everyone would really be better off hiding out in a Travelodge.

Tonight’s finale ticks all the boxes for tension, although the twists and revelations are perhaps not as surprising as you might hope. Sam (Zoe Tapper) confronts Tom (Stephen Moyer), who finally comes clean about why he left the police force, leaving Sam reeling.

And then, just as this bombshell is still resonating around them, Tom and Sam, Simon (Jason Watkins) and Liam (Joel MacCormack) arrive at the safe house. And guess what? It’s really not that safe...

Will Jane (Sunetra Sarker) and Vedder (Gary Cargill) be able to put the pieces together in time to come to Tom and Sam’s aid? And can anyone stop the Crow once and for all?
