IT’S AN AIRLINE CHEQUE-IN

-

The Ryanair pilot shambles has been dominating headlines, but one couple have been battling another budget airline.

Tony and Carol Davey were due to fly from Manchester to Reus in Spain in June with Jet 2, but at the last minute the outbound flight was switched to a later one from Birmingham, and they lost a day’s holiday.

They were offered some food and drink vouchers and, in what they called “the chaos” of boarding the coach to Birmingham, they were asked to sign some forms. After the holiday, Mr Davey applied for compensation for the delay.

“Jet2 replied that because we had signed a piece of paper accepting a free flight the matter was closed,” he said.

“We thought the form was for food vouchers.

“We were not given the chance to read it as we were hurried onto the coach with all the other people.”

I took this up with Jet2 and, while it didn’t explain what went on with the signing of the forms, it did send Tony a cheque for £440.

“Thank you so much and keep up the very good work you do,” he said kindly.
