Twin sons to honour WWII dad’s grave

- BY TOM WHITE

THE grave of a British soldier killed in the Second World War will get a proper headstone thanks to the twin sons he never met.

Edward and Sydney Graham, 74 – born 22 days after his death – had always wondered what happened to dad Edward, who died in an ambush in Sicily on August 13, 1943.

Years of research by son Edward paid off when he found where his father, of Chopwell, Co Durham, serving with the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers, had been buried.

They will attend a service in Sicily on October 4 when his unnamed grave will get a new headstone.

Relatives of SAS soldiers killed in a Normandy plane crash in 1944 want the French to allow excavation at the mass grave.
