IT crash hits air check-ins

-

AIR passengers suffered delays around the world after a computer check-in system crashed.

Problems were reported at airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Zurich, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Singapore and Washington.

Check-in queues began building at 10.30am yesterday after a network failure in software used by more than 100 airlines.

Gatwick said its operators had some “brief issues” but were now working normally. Amadeus, the Spanish travel technology firm that provides the software, confirmed a “network issue” had been causing disruption. But it added that things were “now functioning normally”. A similar incident in April stopped carriers including Lufthansa and Air France-KLM, from boarding passengers. Number of airlines using the Amadeus software that crashed yesterday
