shARk

iOS/Free

-

The latest version of iOS includes built-in support for augmented-reality apps, which overlay virtual content on to the real world.

One such app is shARk. It uses your iPhone’s camera to let you see what it’s like having a fully formed leopard shark swimming around your living room. The app is free to download from iTunes but includes in-app purchases.

If you want to unlock the Great White Shark, you’re going to have to pay 79p. Created by Brightonbased Curiscope, shARk lets users feed and play with their own pet shark by dropping bait anywhere and everywhere. Users can even record and share the best and weirdest places they find their sharks through the in-app video sharing. It’s unlikely that shARk will be a mainstay on your iPhone’s home screen for long, but it serves as a great introduction to the augmented-reality potential of iOS 11. We’re expecting to see many more apps like this in the future.
